En France, la série est diffusée depuis le 7 septembre 2006 sur Canal+. Nancy Botwin est une mère au foyer qui a perdu son mari suite à une crise cardiaque. Elle vit dans une banlieue californienne bourgeoise où règne le conformisme et où les apparences sont reines.
